How We Test

Our recommendations follow a fixed process so you can trust the pick, not just the prose.

1. Verified specifications

Every product we recommend is checked against its manufacturer specification and current listing. We do not publish model numbers, ranges or claims we cannot verify.

2. Hands-on and evidence-based assessment

Where we have hands-on access, we test for the things that actually matter in use — optics and articulation on a borescope, accuracy and repeatability on a torque tool, jaw grip and twist consistency on safety-wire pliers. Where we rely on documented evidence, we say so.

3. How we assign picks

Categories are defined by real buyer intent. Each pick is tied to a specific use case, not a generic “best overall” label, and trade-offs are stated plainly.

4. Independence

We earn affiliate commissions, but commissions never decide the ranking. A product that does not earn its place is not listed.
